چکیده

The successful fabrication of Janus transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) monolayer has sparked extensive research interests in various fields, such as nanoelectronics, optoelectronics, valleytronics, and catalysis. TMDs can not only inherit the advantages conventional but also produce novel properties which are different from their counterparts. breaking vertical mirror symmetry induce a variety properties, Rashba spin splitting, piezoelectricity, long exciton lifetime. Moreover, intrinsic electric field that originates asymmetry serve superior platform for tuning interlayer coupling when forming van der Waals structures. In this mini review, recent key progresses 2D TMDs, including fundamental potential applications, briefly summarized, existing challenges presented.

Manipulating spin-polarized photocurrents in 2D transition metal dichalcogenides.

Manipulating spin polarization of electrons in nonmagnetic semiconductors by means of electric fields or optical fields is an essential theme of the conceptual nonmagnetic semiconductor-based spintronics. Here we experimentally demonstrate an electric method of detecting spin polarization in monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) generated by circularly polarized optical pumping. The...

Topological insulating states in 2D transition metal dichalcogenides induced by defects and strain.

First-principles calculations and extensive analyses reveal that the H phase of two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) can be tuned to topological insulators by introducing square-octagon (4-8) defects and by applying equi-biaxial tensile strain simultaneously. The 2D structure composed of hexagonal rings with 4-8 defects, named sho-TMD, is dynamically and thermally stable...

2D Transition Metal Dichalcogenides and Graphene-Based Ternary Composites for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution and Pollutants Degradation

Photocatalysis have attracted great attention due to their useful applications for sustainable hydrogen evolution and pollutants degradation. Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) such as MoS₂ and WS₂ have exhibited great potential as cocatalysts to increase the photo-activity of some semiconductors. By combination with graphene (GR), enhanced cocatalysts of TMD/GR hybrids could be synthesize...
